How are you going to send her to college and satisfy these requirements?

Answer: These are not unreasonable rules at all. I had many similar ones. We did allow dating in high school without any problems. They tended to pick nice guys, though. Young men we would have been happy to have had as our own. There are lots of good kids!! I allowed my girls lots of freedom as long as they remained trustworthy. One thing we did do with both was to lift most restaints in the last semester of senior year. They remained trustworthy and had their full freedoms too. I worked well for usMIT is definitely very diverse ethnically. My daughter is refering to social diversity. I think she has the impression that MIT is full of Math geeks. About CalTech she said she does not like a place full of brains (I think she meant geeks). So she has her own ideas (mostly formed by discussing these things with very playful and very bright CTY kids she associate) about colleges.

Chances of her getting into MIT is also very low. She has not won any national competitions, hasn’t done any research. (Her school basically treats her as a headache, because she screws up their schedule. So they are not coorporative in any extra work.) So she must be thinking applying there is a futile excercise. Nobody from her school has ever gone to MIT or Harvard to our knowledge. (Then again nobody has become NM semifinalist in the near past either.) She atleast visited Harvard, and said we can apply becuase it’s the common appllication. Last time I suggested visiting MIT, she said MIT has a high rate of suicides. I think she is making up excuses.
